Hurricane Season

Hurricane season in Florida runs June 1 to November 30. As we continue to pray for protection from these storms, the Diocese of Palm Beach encourages all employees at its parishes/schools/entities to be prepared. Our concern is for your safety and that of your employees, their families and parishioners.

Should a storm or hurricane threaten our area, the Diocese of Palm Beach will do its best to keep you informed with information regarding the possible closing of the Pastoral Center or schools on this DMR for employees only. We’ll also use our diocesan main/public website ( and other means of communication to keep you informed as best as we can, depending on circumstances and the power situation.

Remember, when a disaster strikes, we are all working toward a common goal – “getting you back in business as soon as possible.” On the DMR, the diocese provides helpful information such as a Hurricane Preparedness guide, checklists for before and after a storm, and much more under the Building/Construction section and Self-Insurance/Loss Control section. (A username and password is required to view the documents on these pages.) There is also a list of Emergency Contacts.

During Hurricane Season, the Most Reverend Gerald M. Bishop asks all parishes and schools in the diocese to join him a united prayer effort in thanksgiving for the past several calm hurricane seasons and for our protection from devastating storms in the 2016 season. On the diocese’s main website, we provide Bulletin Editors with the Prayer to Avert Hurricanes, available in three languages. This can be found each month in the June to November announcements on the Parish Bulletins page in the Communications section. Thank you for your support of our prayer effort to ask God to keep us safe from hurricanes in this season.
